Policosanol is a natural substance that helps control cholesterol levels in the body. Policosanol has no side effects, unlike drugs used to lower cholesterol such as statin that have many side effects.

Contrary to popular belief, cholesterol is not a harmful compound in the body. On the contrary, cholesterol is one of the most beneficial compounds in the body. It is crucial for the normal functioning of our nervous and hormonal systems. And for these reasons, At MedB clinic, we do not support the lowering of cholesterol.
Cholesterol increases as a normal response to inflammation in the body. And inflammation is the underlying cause of many diseases. Those who must take a medication to lower cholesterol should consider taking policosanol. Studies show that policosanol is even more effective for reducing the so called ‘Bad cholesterol’ and increasing the so called ‘Good cholesterol’.
We recommend taking 2 capsules daily for not more than 3 months a year.
At MedB clinic we are very reluctant to prescribe any substances to help reduce cholesterol. Cholesterol is probably the most useful natural compounds in the human body (See the MedB Journal on Cholesterol). Also, the accepted normal blood tests for cholesterol are flawed. Women require higher levels of cholesterol than men. We do not recommend taking policosanol until cholesterol levels are above 300mg/dl or 7.7mmol/l.
Are there side effects?
There are no known side effects of policosanol. There have been rare reports of abdominal discomfort.
